Dog Camping Checklist

Before you go

Confirm the campsite is dog-friendly and check local rules.Check the weather, overnight low and current fire / weather warnings.Save the nearest veterinary clinic and after-hours contact.Confirm microchip and ID-tag details are current.Check flea, tick and parasite prevention is appropriate for the area.

Sleep & shelter

Dry sleeping surface: bed, mat or raised camp cot.Warm bedding or dog sleeping bag if conditions require it.Sheltered sleeping position protected from wind and rain.Shade for daytime rest.Familiar blanket or bedding if it helps your dog settle.

Food & hydration

Enough normal food for the full trip, plus a little extra.Plenty of fresh drinking water.Food and water bowls or a collapsible travel bowl.Treats or rewards.Food stored securely away from wildlife.

Safety & control

Secure collar and everyday lead.Spare lead or long line if appropriate.Waste bags.Basic canine first-aid supplies.Regular medication.Recent photo of your dog saved on your phone.

Clean-up & comfort

Dog towel.Brush or comb for burrs, grass seeds and debris.Dog-safe wipes or simple clean-up supplies.Favourite toy, chew or enrichment item.Waterproof bag for wet or dirty dog gear.

Activity extras

Life jacket if boating, paddling or open-water conditions warrant it.Floating toy if your dog enjoys water retrieval.Harness and walking gear for hikes.Extra water and portable bowl for day trips away from camp.
